Hello there! We are Team ICARUS from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Together we consist of a group of highly motivated graduate students from the aerospace, computer science, and mechanical engineering schools.
Since the announcement of the 2019 AlphaPilot Innovation Challenge by Lockheed Martin and The Drone Racing League’s (DRL), our team has been preparing algorithms and ideas for the qualifying round. Out of over 420 teams that applied, we have been selected to be one of the nine teams that will compete in DRL’s new Artificial Intelligence Robotic Racing (AIRR) Circuit, which includes the autonomous drone racing portion of the competition. As one of the competitors, we will continue the efforts to design an AI framework capable of piloting autonomous race drones through high-speed aerial courses without the use of GPS, data relay or human intervention, pushing the boundaries of unmanned flight.
